Martin Fowler graduated from the department of Drawing & Painting at Glasgow School of Art in 1994. Martin was the recipient of The Elizabeth Greenshields Prize for Drawing in 1995 and the Hope Scott Trust Award for Painting in 1996 and 1998. In recent years Martin spent 7 years working as an Art Tutor within the Scottish Prison Service, working predominantly with life-sentence prisoners and young offenders. In 2010 Martin published the book 'The Tension of a Line: A Portrait of Perth Prison'.

Martin will present 'Scotland the Brave', an exhibition of his recent drawings at The Scottish Storytelling Centre, The Royal Mile, Edinburgh in December 2012.
